Two women and three children were killed in a fire that started at dawn in a building in Buenos Aires this Thursday, injuring 35 people, including residents, police and rescuers, the same emergency service said.
The victims died en route to the hospital. They are five members of a family of 11 (a couple and their nine children).
According to Pablo Giardina, deputy fire chief, the fire that started on the seventh floor of a building in the Recoleta neighborhood at around 06:00 in the morning quickly spread to the eighth floor.
“First of all, it would have been accidental and no artifacts would have exploded. We relied on the expertise of the firefighters,” said Sebastián Fedullo, the prosecutor in charge of the investigation.
Same director Alberto Crescenti said there was a compressed natural gas (CNG) station next to the 14-story building where the fire broke out, causing great concern until the fire was brought under control.
