The conservative-leaning United States Supreme Court on Thursday limited the federal government’s ability to control greenhouse gas emissions and passed a ruling that limited the White House’s ability to combat climate change.

The court’s six conservative judges ruled, against three progressive counterparts, that the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) could not enact general rules to regulate emissions from coal-fired power plants that produce about 20% of American electricity.
