Several people were injured by another shooting in the United States, during the American Independence Day celebrations in the Highland Park area on the outskirts of Chicago.

The city of Highland Park reported on its Facebook page that police were responding to “an incident” in the town center and that the US Independence Day parade, held on July 4th, had been canceled.

According to the Chicago Tribune, the Governor of Illinois, Democrat Jay Robert “JB” Pritzker was on parade and reported nine injuries as a result of the shooting.

Neither the police nor the Highland Park Mayor’s Office provided official data on the injured. A Chicago Sun Times reporter said he saw blankets covering three bloody bodies and said at least five people were injured, according to the newspaper.

A witness quoted by the Chicago Sun Times points out that at least 20 shots were heard.

Plateau park is a municipality located about 40 kilometers from Chicago in which about 30,000 people live, according to the 2020 census.
