Lula’s PT denounced the murder of a leader by a militant of Jair Bolsonaro in Brazil

The Workers’ Party (PT, left) denounced this Sunday the murder for “hatred and political violence” of a chief of the armed forces in Foz de Iguazú (Paraná, south) at the hands of a follower of the far-right president Jair Bolsonaro, who also died in the accident.

This was indicated by the State Police of Paraná “it was a discussion” between the two men, without clarifying whether she was politically motivated, according to the newspaper Folha de S.Paulo.

Marcelo Arruda, member of the PT and candidate for deputy mayor in the 2020 elections, celebrated its 50th birthday with a themed party of the party when “assassinated” by a “Bolsonarian” federal policeman, according to a statement by that group.

“We were at the party (…) and around 11:30 pm (pm) a man who hadn’t been invited and who nobody knew, appeared and started shouting ‘Mito’ and other Bolsonaro stuff from the car. with a woman and a child (…) He pointed a gun and said he would come back to kill everyone, “according to Aluízio Palmar, a witness, in an audio sent to the AFP by the PT.

Defence

When the policeman identified as Jorge Guaranho returned to the place where the celebration was taking place, Arruda confronted him and “tried to defend himself” with a weapon he kept in his car, the PT said.

The party considered Arruda’s reaction a “heroic act”, which “saved countless lives” killing Guaranho.

Lula lamented the militant’s death in a note of regret and expressed solidarity with his relatives and those in Guaranho, “who lost their father and husband to hate speech aroused by an irresponsible president,” he said, referring to Bolsonaro.

Photos posted on Twitter by PT president Gleisi Hoffmann show a cake with the PT symbol and Arruda at the celebration, dressed in a T-shirt with the image of Lula.

Violence

The PT warned of the “growth of political violence in the country”polarized between right and left in the face of the presidential elections in October, which will be defined between Bolsonaro and Lula.

“Anyone who is maddened by this project of death and destruction becomes in the aggressor or the killer“, the PT deplored.

Bolsonaro has made access to weapons more flexible since his rise to power and encourages the population to arm themselves.

On Saturday, hundreds of people marched in Brasilia to defend the possession of weaponsa heated debate in various countries of the world, such as in the United States, due to the frequent mass shootings.
