The Danish amusement park Tivoli Friheden announced this Friday the permanent closure of a roller coaster the day after the death of a 14-year-old girl in an accident in Aarhus, in the west of the country.
The attraction “Cobra”, a roller coaster that can reach 70 km / h, had already been the scene of a serious accident in which four people were injured 14 years ago.
“After the 2008 accident, and now the 2022 accident, we no longer trust the attraction to be safe enough to remain part of Tivoli Friheden,” park director Henrik Ragborg Olesen said in a statement to the media. danish media.
The accident occurred Thursday afternoon when a ride cart fell from the rear, killing a 14-year-old Danish girl and injuring a 13-year-old boy’s hand.
A compile error
These roller coasters, a circuit 400 meters long and 25 meters high of Italian design, had already suffered an accident in 2008, shortly after its inauguration.
At that time, it was the front part that had come off. Four people were seriously injured and the investigation revealed a construction error.
The Tivoli Friheden park, evacuated after the accident, will remain closed until Monday.
