Speaking to Al-Jazeera published on the Qatar channel’s website, he added that Iran had carried out “extensive maneuvers so that it can attack Israel in depth if its sensitive installations are attacked.”

Israel, which considers Iran its number one enemy, opposes a relaunch of the 2015 international Iranian nuclear deal, which would supposedly prevent the Islamic Republic from acquiring the atomic bomb in exchange for the lifting of sanctions that are suffocating its economy, of which The United States withdrew in 2018.

Negotiations stalled since March

Iran and Israel, considered by experts to be the only nuclear power in the Middle East, are also waging a “shadow war” with cyberattacks, attacks at sea or accusations of murder in particular.

Kamal Kharrazi’s comments come as negotiations between Tehran and major powers, including Washington, to relaunch the 2015 deal have stalled since March.

They also come the day after the end of the first tour of the Middle East by US President Joe Biden, who signed a security pact in Israel with Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid on Thursday that commits the United States to never allow Iran to acquire nuclear weapons. .

This pact is “a great display of deceit and hypocrisy” by the United States because they “turn a blind eye to the Zionist regime as […] the largest possessor of the region’s nuclear weapons arsenal,” Iranian Foreign Affairs spokesman Nasser Kanani reacted on Sunday morning. Iran has always denied wanting to acquire the atomic bomb.
