Flights from Love Field Airport in Dallas, Texas, were suspended Monday after a woman fired several shots into the air inside the terminal, police said. Dallas Police Chief Eddie Garcia said the 37-year-old woman was shot and injured by a police officer after shooting at the ceiling.

Garcia told reporters that the woman drove to the airport, went into the bathroom, changed her clothes and opened fire in the air.

The police chief said the agent hit him in his “lower extremities” after which he was arrested and taken to the hospital.

No one else was injured, but the gunfire caused panic at the airport and dozens of passengers rushed to hide.

The Federal Aviation Administration has issued a “stand-in-the-ground” alert temporarily canceling flights at this airport.
