Mexico: 13 suspected criminals killed by police, eight killed in bar attack

“Ten men and three women died” this Thursday in a confrontation with police in the state of San Luis Potosí. According to the authorities, they would be involved in several attacks, which caused deaths.

Thirteen suspected criminals were killed by police in the industrial heart of Mexico, where eight people also died in the attack on a bar by armed men, judicial sources said Friday.

“Ten men and three women died” this Thursday during a confrontation with the police in the state of San Luis Potosí, said the regional prosecutor’s office.

The alleged criminals “would be involved in the latest violent events in the area,” added the prosecution.

Involved in several attacks.

On June 10, the bodies of seven unidentified men were abandoned in a town in the same state, the prosecution had announced.

In neighboring Guanajuato state, eight people were shot to death and five others wounded in an attack on a speakeasy on Friday, local authorities said.

On Wednesday, a journalist-businessman and two other people died in the armed robbery of a bar in the municipality of San Luis de la Paz.

San Luis Potosí (General Motors and BMW plants) and Guanajuato are two industrial states.

Guanajuato has become one of the most violent states of the 32 that make up Mexico, due to the rivalry between two cartels: Santa Rosa de Lima and Jalisco Nueva Generación. In the first semester, Guanajuato was the most violent state in the country, with 1,259 homicides.
