This new support brings the total amount of US military assistance to Ukraine to $9.8 billion since Joe Biden came to power, according to the Pentagon.

The Pentagon announced on Monday a new tranche of military aid to Ukraine, worth a billion dollars, which includes, in particular, additional missiles for the US Himars precision artillery systems.

This new tranche of aid also provides for additional short- and medium-range missiles for NASAMS anti-aircraft defense systems, as well as Javelin anti-tank missiles, the US Department of Defense said in a statement.

Kyiv will also receive 75,000 155mm shells, intended for Western artillery systems with which Ukrainian forces are now equipped, and some fifty armored medical vehicles.

Also help from the World Bank

In a separate statement, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken welcomed this set of measures “calibrated to make a difference” on the ground and indicated that the United States will continue to work with Ukraine to strengthen that country’s position “at the talks”.

For its part, the World Bank announced on Monday an additional aid of 4,500 million dollars for Ukraine, thanks to the funds provided by the United States, to help the Government to face the “urgent needs generated by the war”.

This additional aid should, in particular, allow the government and local authorities to cover social, pension or health expenses, the World Bank said in a press release. This brings the total amount of emergency financial assistance provided to Ukraine by the Washington-based international institution to nearly $13 billion.
