Helen Rhodes, a British midwife, died in her sleep on Friday, August 5, while starting a flight between Hong Kong and the UK, says The Guardian. According to the British newspaper, the victim’s body remained in her seat “for the remaining eight hours of the flight.”
Therefore, her two children and her husband were forced to spend more than eight hours with the lifeless body, before the plane finally made an emergency landing in Frankfurt.
A pot in support of the family
Helen’s body remained in Germany, while her husband, Simon, and their two children, Emma and Nathan, returned to the UK.
The family had spent the last fifteen years in Hong Kong and was due to return to the British Isle for the first time since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic.
A kitty in support of her family was started by Jayne Hehe, a friend of Helen Rhodes. The drama moved the entire United Kingdom and in a few hours the equivalent of 27,000 euros had already been raised.
This money should be used to finance unforeseen funeral expenses, particularly repatriation expenses.
