Tourist praises Barcelona in video showing the theft

The problem of robbery from tourists is repeated in the Spanish city.

Earlier this summer, another video went viral showing that a Hublot watch worth nearly US$1 million was stolen by a man in the Las Ramblas tourist area in central Barcelona.

The visitor RTVE spoke to this Sunday (14) didn’t seem worried about the robberies.

He spoke positively to the reporter about his impressions of the beach, clean sea water and food. The backpack appears in the background, facing the sea, with the owner on his back.

When the owner leaves, the thief approaches and takes him, passing by the camera and recording his face.

Then the victim returns and realizes that his belongings have been taken. He walks around asking if anyone has seen his backpack.

However, the TV crew didn’t realize the scene was being recorded until they got to the station, as Marta Ribas, sub-editor of RTVE Catalunha, explains.

Later, the Barcelona Municipal Guard announced that it had succeeded in catching the thief and recovering the proceeds from the theft, thanks to the video posted on social media.

According to the head of the force, the man had already committed other thefts.

Unusual situations involving TV crews are common and go viral on social media. Some are ordinary, some not so much.

Two months ago, a news report on rising fuel prices on Greek television was criticized for showing a mechanic teaching how thieves steal gasoline in a way deemed “too didactic”.
