Turkish Presidents Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Ukrainian Volodymyr Zelensky signed an agreement on Thursday to rebuild Ukraine’s infrastructure following the end of the Russian-initiated war, Turkish state news agency Anadolu reported.
The agreement was signed by the Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Oleksandr Kubrakov and the Minister of Commerce of Turkey Mehmet Muş.
The main actions include the creation of a task force that will “coordinate the reconstruction of facilities of social and economic importance in Ukraine, such as roads, bridges, water and electricity infrastructure, hospitals and schools”.
Erdogan is in Lviv with United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres for a tripartite meeting with Zelensky on conflict-related issues.
This is the first meeting between the three since the signing of the grain export agreement between Kyiv and Moscow in July. Both Ankara and the UN were instrumental in the entire process of unblocking food exports at the three ports in southern Ukraine.
In a message posted on Telegram, Zelensky said Erdogan’s visit was “a strong message from an important country like Turkey.”
The President also explained that among the main topics of the speech were the export of wheat and the security issues involving the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant. Kyiv and Moscow have repeatedly made accusations about missile attacks in the region.
