United States of America unveiled this Tuesday air offensive in the east of Syria and bombed militia positions supported by Iran and its Revolutionary Guards. The attack was carried out under the direction of the president of the North American country, Joe Biden.
The “precision strikes” in the eastern oil-producing province of Deir Ezzor “targeted infrastructure used by groups affiliated with Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps“, indicated this Wednesday the Director of Communications of the Central Command, Joe Buccino, in an official statement.
As highlighted in the document, the attacks have the sole objective of “defending and protecting American forces”. Furthermore, he noted that “it was a proportionate and deliberate action with the intention of limit the risk of escalation and minimize the risk of casualties“.
The figures corresponding to the fatalities and wounded left by the offensive have not yet been reported.
What the communiqué says about the attacks in Syria
Under President Biden’s direction, US military forces today conducted precision air strikes in Deir Ezzor, Syria. These precision attacks are intended to defend and protect US forces from attacks such as the August 15 attacks on US personnel by Iranian-backed groups.
