At least 15 people were killed and 50 wounded on Wednesday in a Russian attack that hit a train station in central Ukraine, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced at the UN Security Council.
“I have just received information about a Russian missile attack on a station in the Dnipropetrovsk region, right at the Chaplino station carriages. Four passenger carriages are on fire,” he said at the beginning of his speech.
According to him, “at least 15 people died and about 50 were injured.” “The rescuers are working on the spot, but unfortunately the death toll may increase. It is our daily life”, added the Head of State.
Ukraine will fight “until the end”
The strike comes as Ukraine celebrates Independence Day, which commemorates its split from the USSR in 1991. It also comes as the country enters its seventh month of war with Russia, which began on February 24.
Volodymyr Zelensky had assured on Wednesday that Ukraine would fight “until the end”. While most of today’s fighting is taking place in eastern and southern Ukraine, where neither side appears to be making progress, Russia regularly attacks Ukrainian cities with long-range missiles, according to Kyiv.
