More than 50,000 troops and 5,000 units of weapons and equipment will be mobilized, including 140 aircraft, 60 warships, boats and support ships.

Troops and observers from more than ten countries will participate in the exercises, including China, India, Syria, Algeria, Mongolia, Nicaragua, Laos and Azerbaijan.

Military personnel from Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan will also be present, and together with Russia will be part of the post-Soviet Collective Security Treaty Organization (OTSC).

The maneuvers are smaller than in 2018, when about 300,000 Russian Armed Forces personnel, as well as thousands from other countries, participated.

The exercises in the Far East coincide with the seventh month of the “special military operation” in Ukraine, as Russian President Vladimir Putin calls it.

According to the deputy minister, during the activities, the Russian and Chinese navies will conduct maneuvers in the Sea of ​​\u200b\u200bJapan.

“Our Pacific Fleet, together with the Chinese People’s Liberation Army Navy, will implement the harmonization of the northern and central parts of the Sea of ​​​​Japan in the Far East maritime zone,” Guerasimov said. Said.

The exercises will be conducted offshore and in areas close to the Seas of Japan and the coast of Ojotsk.
