According to local newspaper Clarín, 1 person was arrested tonight on suspicion of threatening Argentina’s Vice President Cristina Kirchner with a gun. According to local media, the action was to take place around 9 pm (local time) when the woman arrived at the home in the Recoleta district of Buenos Aires after presiding over the Senate session.
Local TV captured footage (Look up) The moment when Kirchner got out of the car, bowed his head in the middle of the crowd, and a man approached a little more than a meter away with an obvious gun in his hand. According to the Argentine television channel C5N, the gun failed, which prevented him from shooting the vice president.
Argentine Security Minister Annibal Fernández confirmed that the suspect was arrested by federal police officers in custody of the vice president. Fernández explained that after the threat, the weapon was found, seized and is now with the science police for analysis.
“I can not say [contra a vida da vice-presidente] until the weapon is inspected. (…) We have the gun in the photo. We have to wait a while for the scientific police to deal with the case. What happened, it happened. Now we need to collect all the information (…) I am not relativizing anything. “The images are horrendous,” Fernández told Argentine Public Television.
The security secretary said Kirchner was at home and in federal police custody after the incident.

Former Argentine president Maurício Macri denied the attack and celebrated that the action did not physically harm the vice president.
“I absolutely reject the attack on Cristina Kirchner, which luckily had no consequences for the vice president. This very serious fact requires immediate and profound explanation by the justice system and security forces,” he wrote on Twitter.
