USA: Son who threw his father’s ashes on plane dies in ultra-light crash

In an ultra-light accident recorded in Minnesota (USA), a man died while scattering his father’s ashes over a lake. According to US vehicles CBS News and 8Newsnow, 58-year-old Lee Cemensky was accompanied by 61-year-old pilot Douglas Johnson, who died in the crash.

Crow Wing County police said the two died at the scene after the small plane lost control and crashed in the north-central part of the US state. Lieutenant Craig Katzenbergern said officers who answered the call on Sunday night discovered that the man had scattered the ashes of his father, John Cemensky.

He described the plane as “homemade” and said the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) and the National Transportation Safety Board are still investigating the crash. Initial reports described the aircraft as “ultra light”.

The victim’s father, Leo John Cemensky, died at home a month ago and is survived by his two children, four grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. The family did not comment on either event.

Pilot Johnson has served tourists in the Emily, Minnesota community through his services on the Fly the Swan website. He offered a bird’s-eye view of the experience of landing on lakes, land and water with the plane named “Swan”.
