Lima, September 5 (EFE) – Peruvian president Pedro Castillo this Monday denied corruption allegations in three of the six cases he responded to during an investigation at Public Ministry offices. to the official ruler’s testimony.

Castillo went to Attorney General Patricia Benavides’ office to respond to allegations of personal cover-up and criminal organization following the resignation of former Interior Minister Mariano González.

Other issues in the statement were state-owned Petroperú’s bid to purchase biodiesel from Heaven Petroleum, and allegations of irregularities in regulations approved in favor of the Anguía region in the Chota province where Castillo was born. .

In this context, the head of state added that he will continue to “show his face” and will respond to the attorney general’s summons as often as necessary.

“We did not come to harm the country,” said Castillo, adding that Peru was “determined to steer its destiny.”

Moments earlier, in remarks to a group of supporters who accompanied him to the Public Ministry, Castillo stated that he had gone to tell Benavides that he “categorically denied these false accusations.”

“You know what our job is, where we come from,” Castillo told his supporters, adding that he “will not let his guard down” because “Peru needs the authorities to be ready to respond to the country’s great needs.”

Castillo’s lawyer, Benji Espinoza, said in a statement to the press that the president had determined that he was “completely innocent of all charges against him”.

The former interior minister accuses Castillo of impeaching him to avoid the capture of former minister Juan Silva and his nephew Fray Vásquez, who were fugitives in the criminal organization case against the president.
