World leaders sent a message to President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) for the bicentennial commemoration of Brazil’s Independence held today. One of them was Russian President Vladimir Putin, who suggested that there was a “strategic partnership” between the countries.
“I am confident that through mutual efforts, we will ensure the strengthening of the strategic partnership between Russia and Brazil for the benefit of our peoples. I sincerely wish you health and success, and happiness and prosperity to all your compatriots,” says the message published by the Russian news agency Sputnik.
Putin, who is at the forefront of a war against Ukraine, also said that Brazil is an engaged member of the international community. “It plays an important role in the world economy and is actively involved in solving many current issues on the regional and global agenda.”
Melanie Hopkins, acting British Ambassador to Brazil, He shared Elizabeth’s message about the date on social networks. She remembered visiting the country in 1968.
“Amid the celebration of the important occasion of 200 years of independence, I congratulate Your Excellency and send my congratulations to the people of the Federative Republic of Brazil, fondly commemorating my visit to the country in 1968. Shall we continue to work together with hope and determination to overcome global challenges”.
The USA and China also congratulated Brazil
The Chinese Embassy in Brazil published the message of Chinese President Xi Jinping to Brazil for the bicentennial on social media. The text underlines the old bilateral relations between the countries.
In part of the message, Xi Jinping emphasizes that through joint efforts, China-Brazil relations have made steady progress in recent years and have achieved fruitful results of pragmatic cooperation.
Since the beginning of his government, President Jair Bolsonaro has taken a critical stance against China because of the communist regime. But in June, the Brazilian Chief Executive used the BRICS summit to praise the Chinese and advocate for an alliance among developing countries.
The United States sent its congratulations to Brazil through its Secretary of State, Antony Blinken. The text highlights the relationship between countries and talks about defending democracy.
“The two largest democracies in the Western Hemisphere, the United States and Brazil, share a commitment to promoting democracy throughout the region and demonstrating its benefits to all people. The United States and Brazil continue to work to deepen our strategic relationships and our vital economy,” the quote reads.
Blinken still talks about peacemaking, about human rights and racial justice. “Together, our countries can achieve regional peace and security, advance human rights and racial justice, and build a safe, healthy, sustainable and prosperous future for future generations.”
