A year ago, after the Taliban takeover of Afghanistan’s capital, Kabul, chaotic scenes at the city’s airport swept the world.
They showed that American military planes took off in a hurry, while dozens of people tried to board the plane in vain. Some clung to the plane and died after takeoff.
The BBC’s Pashto service shows the life of the family of one of the victims. Fida Mohammad was a dentist and probably decided to flee Kabul that morning.
His father got a call saying he had fallen from a plane and died. Still looking for answers about the episode.
“We had a good life and lost everything,” he tells the BBC.
