At a time marked by seismic tragedies in the history of the Latin country, an earthquake measuring 7.4 on the Richter Scale struck Mexico this afternoon.
The epicenter of the earthquake was the municipality of Coalcoman in the southwestern region of the country, according to the National Seismological Agency, which is responsible for monitoring tremors in the country.
So far, no deaths or injuries have been officially recorded.
A tsunami warning has been issued for the Michoacán and Colima coastal area, and power outages have been reported in parts of Mexico City.
After the earthquake in Mexico City, people gathered in front of buildings.
According to local media, the shaking came just hours after the National Simulacrum, a kind of annual training for earthquake-related situations, took place on the day the country commemorates the 1985 Mexico City earthquake.

On September 19, 1985, a magnitude 8.1 earthquake left a trail of destruction in the nation’s capital. The death toll at the time varies according to sources, but at least 9,500 deaths were confirmed at the time, according to the National Environmental Information Center.
In 2017, 370 dead and 2,000 people were injured in the earthquake that took place in the town of Puebla on September 19, 2017. The earthquake was 7.1 magnitude at the time.
