The government advanced this Wednesday to increase of about 40%. in public transport fares in December.
This was confirmed by the Minister of Transport, Alexis Guerrera, who anticipated that “there will be an adjustment” of the tariff in all its modalities and warned that work is still being done on the definitive increase in the number.
Guerrera explained that the increase will concern “the area of metropolitan transport and all that is federal transport, which is what regulates the national state”.
The increase “will not be exactly the same for all railway lines or for all modes,” added the minister as he entered the Kirchner Cultural Center to witness the start of training on the Yolanda law, an act led by President Alberto Fernández.
“We are analyzing what that percentage of the increase will be, but approximately we can make an approximate average of 40%“, Warrior completed.
The official, on the other hand, clarified that the measure “has nothing to do with the negotiations of the UTA (Unión Tranviarios Automotor) at the Ministry of Labor because internal transport, which is currently under discussion, is not the responsibility of the national government. , beyond the fact that the provinces always exert pressure on national subsidies ”.
“It is the responsibility of the provincial and municipal governments to set fares, routes, stops and what the national government does is a subsidy mechanism,” he stressed.
Meanwhile, he recalled that “in the 2018 tax pact there was a commitment by the jurisdictions to abandon the compensation mechanism by the national government, but this was not respected due to Covid”.
“This interior compensation fund has been strengthened and today we continue with the discussion on what level of participation the federal government should have in automotive transportation under provincial or municipal jurisdiction,” he concluded.
