This was announced by the Santander Argentina bank William Storm Leeds, current first vice president, will replace the outgoing one Enrico Cristofani, historic owner of the bank for more than three decades. Another of the announced changes is that Gabriel Alonso, the current director, will take over as first vice president.
Guillermo Tempesta Leeds has a twenty-year career in Santander Argentina and has led the areas of the General Secretariat, Legal Advice and Compliance, among others, having also held the role of director in several Santander companies in different financial activities. He has been a member of the board of directors since 2003 and in 2008 he was appointed first vice president of the institution, a position he still holds today.
As a member of the board of directors, he has actively participated in numerous committees on corporate governance, legal, accounting, finance, risk, compliance and responsible banking. He has been an alternate member for Banco Santander in the Association of Argentine Banks (ABA) among other forums. He has also been Vice President of the Santander Argentina Foundation since its creation in 2019.
Enrique Cristofani, who has decided not to continue his mandate on the board of directors until ddevote oneself fully to work in activities that contribute to the common goodhe successfully led the Santander Argentina team for 30 years, leading the Institute to become a leader and reference bank in the Argentine financial system and one of the most important companies in the country.
His management has been characterized by the transformation, growth and digitization of the business. This has allowed Santander to occupy a leadership position within the financial system. During this period, and thanks to the excellent work done by his team, Santander has grown from a market share of 6% to 10% and has more than quadrupled the number of customers, reaching 4.4 million. Furthermore, it has positioned Santander as one of the companies with the best ratios in terms of people and team management and one of the best employers in the country.
Similarly, Cristofani has spearheaded efforts that have made Santander Argentina a socially responsible company with a strong impact on the community. Therefore, he was one of the main promoters of the Universities of Santander, creating the most remarkable strategic alliance between a company and the universities of the country, and the Directorates of Social Integration, with the mission of integrating into the financial system the communities that were outside out of it or with difficulty of access
