A decade of red carpets, Spanish-speaking stars gathered, awards thrown out by the hundreds. The Platino Awards have already managed to establish themselves as a festive annual gathering for actors, producers and filmmakers.
This year, in Madrid, the tenth edition promises a great celebration, with Argentina, 1985, at the top of the nominations. The film directed by Santiago Miter is the Ibero-American production with the highest number of nominations.
The initial idea, in 2014, was that of an itinerant delivery, which is why in 10 editions there were scenarios such as Punta del Este and Playa del Carmen. This is the fifth time that the host country is Spain.
Next, a review of the different editions and their outstanding sections.
1) The first time:
The appointment had arrived Panama, on April 5, 2014, and Best Picture was Chilean Gloryby Sebastián Lelio, dramatic comedy about love after a separation. For Argentina there were three prizes -out of ten possible-.

The actor was then distinguished with the Lifetime Achievement Platinum.
Guillermo Francella celebrated his best actor award for El Clanwhile Dolores Fonzi is the best actress for Paulina (directed by her partner Santiago Mitre).
6) Bulldozer Lali Esposito
Last year, in a relaxed ceremony, the singer with 11 million Instagram followers was the host – alongside Spanish actor Miguel Ángel Muñoz – flaunted her histrionics at Madrid’s IFEMA Municipal Palace and also sang live .
The statuette for best miniseries went to that Argentinian setting The kingdom, the crime thriller about an evangelical pastor (Diego Peretti, El Chino Darín, Mercedes Morán and cast). He had the advantage of being the most nominated in the history of these awards.
7) Little joy for Argentina
In Madrid, in 2021, the national team returned almost empty-handed. There was only one acknowledgment, per The Turuleca henbest animated film, a co-production with Spain.

In Playa del Carmen, in 2018, the jury decided that the best male performance in a miniseries should go to Julio Chávez, for Teacher. Presenting the shortlist on stage was a compatriot, Ernesto Alterio, son of Ettore. Chavez was absent with notice for his theater tour and it was director Daniel Barone who accepted the award.
On that occasion there were three awards for zamakby Lucrecia Martel (best sound direction, best art direction and best direction of photography).
9) Raphael, king of the Riviera Maya
In 2019, before the chinstraps, gel booze, and madness, there was a full-blown ceremony at the XCaret theme park in Riviera Maya, Mexico.
“The Boy from Linares”, Raphael, not only achieved the Platinum of Honor, but also made headlines for opening the ceremony to the tune of My Big Nightwhile the Cirque du Soleil acrobats moved to the rhythm of that song composed by Salvatore Adamo.
In that sixth edition, Rome it was the big winner. Alfonso Cuarón’s film took five statuettes, including best fiction film.
10) Happy commercial: “Argentina, 1985”
In early March, the nominees for the April 22 ceremony were announced: Santiago Miter’s film, which has gone through the Venice Film Festival, the San Sebastián Film Festival, the Goya Awards, the Oscars and more, is the big favorite, with 14 nominations.
Five of its actors are nominated: Ricardo Darín and Peter Lanzani (Best Actor), Carlos Portaluppi and Norman Briski (Supporting Actor) and Alejandra Flechner (Best Supporting Actress). Everything indicates that in the IFEMA Municipal Palace in Madrid the hyperheard Boys…
