There was little, really, no sentimentality in the band’s announcement. “It’s not goodbye, it’s peace!” said a statement jointly attributed to the band members. “Get ready, you will have the best show of our lives.”

Without the founding drummer

the founding drummer Joey Kramerwho was ruled out of the group’s recent Las Vegas residency, will not be a part of this tour, according to the announcement.

“Although Joey Kramer remains a beloved founding member of Aerosmith, he has sadly made the decision not to participate in currently scheduled tour dates in order to focus all of his attention on his family and health,” the statement read. “Joey’s unmistakable and legendary presence behind the drum kit will be greatly missed,” the statement read.

Things with the drummer hit a tense moment a little over two years ago.

Ahead of a big weekend for Aerosmith, as they performed at the Grammy Awards on Sunday, January 26, 2020, drummer Joey Kramer sued his colleagues for not allowing him to return to the group after suffering a health issue.

Kramer has taken legal action against his colleagues, claiming he was forced to audition to see if he was fit to return to his role after sustaining a shoulder injury in 2019.

Physical complications made his performance impossible and he was replaced by the group’s drum tech, John Douglas, who was first brought in as an emergency fix, but ended up solidifying his place with performances in Las Vegas.

According to court documents, once the musician recovered from his minor injuries, he was ready to resume his duties, but the rest of the group decided he needed to audition to see if he was “capable of playing at a appropriate level”.

Kramer agreed to the request, stating that members of Aerosmith told him his performance was acceptable, but lacked the energy.

At that time, in a statement through the magazine PeopleSteven Tyler, Joe Perry, Tom Hamilton and Brad Whitford responded to Kramer’s allegations that they referred to him as a brother, and explained that his health was most important.
