He is one of the figures of the quartet and has contributed to the current boom of the genre with his collaborations with figures as dissimilar as Rusherking, Migranti, MYA, El Polaco, Marama, Javier Calamaro AND The palm trees.

Throughout his career he has filled iconic venues across the country, including Luna Park and Gran Rex. At the end of 2023 she would have liked to celebrate with friends at the GEBA stadium, but a strong storm forced the show to be rescheduled and will finally be in the capital on January 26th.

“I’m a little anxious,” he confesses, “because we’ve already done a great show in Córdoba and we want to do it in Buenos Aires. I’m really looking forward to starting the year with all the people from Buenos Aires and those who come from all over the country.”

He also teases that it will be a three-hour recital featuring “all the friends I’ve made in 2023.” And then he lists: Rusherking, Emanero, Migrantes, MYA, Marama and Flor Vigna. “Many friends will come to share that beautiful night,” she concludes.

The fusion of the quartet

Last year was atypical for Ulises Bueno, because he stopped playing between May and September, then returned with a big concert in Córdoba and then took a vacation until the end of December. “I rested,” he explains, “and I was able to work with friends to fuse a lot of music with other musical genres and plant crops for 2024.”

-How was the decision to stop?

-It was more about being able to continue making music, but from another side. I stopped to indulge in this pleasure of sharing music with this new generation of urban music. We managed to blend the quartet a lot with this genre that is rocking it and made a lot of friends.

I want the quartet to remain current, because even if I carry the flag of the characteristic quartet, I can also merge it. And this opened many doors for me, such as going to play in Spain, the United States and Uruguay. I’m really very happy.

Ulises Bueno has recorded in recent months with Rusherking, Migrantes, MYA, El Polaco, Marama, Javier Calamaro and Los Palmeras. Ulises Bueno has recorded in recent months with Rusherking, Migrantes, MYA, El Polaco, Marama, Javier Calamaro and Los Palmeras.

-To create this new phase of fusion with other musical genres, did you need to stop the ball?

-Yes. It was difficult to do this while I was working, because we played many days and not just on weekends. So designing and making things takes time. And if you work at night it’s difficult to get together with the kids to compose and create music.

-La Mona Jiménez had stopped doing shows during the week.

-La Mona has stopped playing shows and is now participating in the Bum Bum festival organized by Carli Jiménez, where we played last week. The Mona is an icon and is enshrined in Cordoba and nationally, but we all have to travel the country and want to transcend what is abroad.

-What do you think has changed and been better organized for the safety of artists since your brother’s time?

-We have imposed our way of working. It used to be 35-40 minute shows and from there you would run to another show. We forced this thing to play for three hours and we weren’t in a hurry.

It can be a little quieter and the seats fill up with a much larger group of people. Let’s bring everyone together in one place and not divide all of Greater Buenos Aires, where there is demand and also danger, due to night-time travel on the highways. Well, this is how many things happen that we already know have happened to many artists.

The current boom

Ulises Bueno does three-hour shows and avoids running from place to place all night, with the danger that this represents. Ulises Bueno does three-hour shows and avoids running from place to place all night, with the danger that this represents.

-Is it a boom moment for the quartet, thanks to you and artists like La K’onga?

-We are in a very good moment and thank God we have the opportunity to enjoy the quartet nationwide, not only in the capital Córdoba. It comes from situations where we merge with other genres and this opens many doors for us.

Both we and La K’onga are making the quartet stronger and stronger nationwide, thus overcoming many barriers.

-Who else would you like to collaborate with?

-We have a lot of collaborations that people don’t know about yet. And so many things to bring you that we are closing now.

-What do you think of Miranda!, who just recorded her first quartet?

-The truth is that with Miranda there are also things to do, like projects and other nice things. At the time we met at some event and we were thinking of doing something together, so I don’t rule out the possibility.

-And artists like Los Fabulosos Cadillacs or Charly García?

-It would be a wonderful thing to do! We have a lot of contact with the people at Cadillac. And it would be a dream to do something with Charly. The quartet has a lot of rock and roll, at least the style I do. Stop recording with the rock greats.
