The universe of Moria Casán is completely strange and unpredictable. If we add that, the universe of José María Muscari, things will get stronger. And both, the presentation of a tragedy by William Shakespeare, is an experience unlike any other. But no doubt, the biases aside, amusing.

The acquired Cine Teatro El Plata, in the Mataderos neighborhood, is the space chosen for the presentation of Julius Caesarby Shakespeare, in a free version, adapted and directed by Muscari and starring the diva in the role of Roman politician.

The theater, which is part of the CTBA, in the heart of Avenida Juan Bautista Alberdi, the heart of the neighborhood, could not have been a better place for Moria to stand, with a great cast, in the shoes of the Roman general and conqueror. People in the neighborhood were happy with the reopening of the room (closed for decades) and tend to have a famous figure in a production that is not frugal.

a chaotic neighborhood

In the preview (the play will be held every Saturday and Sunday at exactly 5pm, from May 7), even before the performance, a certain liveliness was felt in the air due to the arrival of the diva and her troupe in the neighborhood. . The mix of figuresboth above and below the stage, is one of the marks of this work.

The cast that works alongside Moria consists of: Alejandra Radano, Vivian El Jaber, Marita Ballesteros, Malena Solda, Mario Alarcón, Mariano Torre, Mirta Wons, Fabiana García Lago and Payuca. Actors play the male roles and the actors, the women.

However, timeless dress and no gender discrimination adds up so that crossing is not forced and this is an interesting bet.

As for the task itself, Shakespeare purists, refrain. That’s it for Pompey Audivert, Rubén Szuchmacher and other talented artists. This is something else, a more dangerous proposition, but not seeking to be pretentious.

shakespeare with a trap

Here in Julius Caesar there was Shakespeare, but intervened, crossed by technological news, the led screens and the trap and for some neighborhood reference so even one character is allowed to quote “La pantera de Mataderos”, which refers to Moria’s well-known eighties television character, “Rita Turdero”.

Winks are well received by the publicalthough less is preferable so as not to run the risk of “covering” the original text, that is updated and lighten up. However, the version manages to preserve the hidden essence, along with the framework of power and betrayal that, since 1599 when it was written in England, remains universal and timeless. Shakespearean merit, without a doubt.

The meaning of the famous English playwright theater also has its origins. “At what point did Shakespeare become exclusive to an elite?“, featured a man in the theater hall, the day of the preview.

To prove this, the paths of María Kodama, and Lorna Gemetto (fan of Susana Giménez), Katja Alemann, Romina Richi, Sandra Mihanovich and Elena Roger crossed paths. The actress, along with her children and other children, enjoyed taking selfies next to the gigantographs on the theater door with Moria’s faces; of Radano and his father, Mariano Torre.

There were also selfies of selfies of some families in the neighborhood waiting for the famous hide as a souvenir. A) Yes, Muscari, with her gold sequin loafers posed next to the babies in strollers, and next to also Fernando Galmarini, wife of Moriawho applauded his wife from the front row, along with some relatives.

Jorge Telerman and Gabriela Ricardes, former and current directors of the Buenos Aires Theater Complex, shared the hall with Leonor Manso, Nequi Galotti and some spectators with their canes and coats, eager to see the play, so a woman appeared in the room, with your ticket on May 7, a week before.

Running for Bruges

Nora Cárpena, a close friend of Moria, with whom, after the show, they left at the right time to arrive on Corrientes Avenue to go up to another stage, the Multitabaris Comafi, to hold meetings, witches.

On a stage full of strong lights and radiance like a galaxy, the characters are also encouraged with a couple of rap choreographies and some subtle erotic techniques, enhanced by a female cast who knows how to take advantage of their leading role.

Marita Ballesteros is Marco Antonio; Alejandra Radano, Gross; Malena Solda, Casio; Mario Alarcón, wife of Cesar, Calpurnia; Mariano Torre, Portia, wife of Brutus; Mirta Wons was Lucio, Bruto’s servant; Vivian El Jaber, Casca, the accomplice; Fabiana Garcia Lago; Octavio and, Payuca, Tribunio, a servant of Julius Caesar.

In the dressing rooms, the cast was enthusiastic and touched by the neighborhood’s reaction. “People greet us on the street when they see us come to the theater. There were neighbors who brought us giftsThey welcomed us with joy and strange love, “said Vivian El Jaber. Proof of this was that tickets for some performances were sold out within hours.

The experience is also new for actors and actresses who, in general, have gone through other types of genres. “This work has been a great learning experience, for me and not just me, I was taken out of my comfort zone“, highlighted Alejandra Radano.

Moria, with a wig as platinum as her jumpsuit and platforms, shows off energy from another planet and the charisma she still has in public. His Julius Caesar was much to himperhaps because the Roman general himself had a certain “casanesque” character, in terms of self-referentiality and grandiloquence.

The version, on the other hand, is the responsible for representing Argentina at the Mérida Classical Theater Festivalin Spain, next July and no less than the opening of the traditional party.

This work will no doubt have detractors, who will point to a distortion of the text, hidden in local references, to the beautiful show full of contemporary, to “serious actors and actresses” playing on the sidelines and more. yet, as a production of the official theater. but, what would art be if there was no danger? The rest is, almost everything, pure subjectivity.

“Julio César” performances take place every Saturday and Sunday at exactly 5:00 pm at the Cine Teatro El Plata in Mataderos, Av. Juan Bautista Alberdi 5765. Seats: stalls $ 1050 and Pullman 550 (with limited visibility).
