Greta Gerwig’s movie is not expected to hit theaters until July 2023
Is Warner Bros looking to create yet another universe, this time the Barbieverse? according to collidersources of The New York Times they said the movie Greta Gerwig will follow a different path, after she decides to present two more versions of the doll, lived by Issa Rae (“Insecure”) and Hari Nef.
But the possibilities will not be limited to the character lived by Margot Robbie (“Suicide Squad”), the heartthrob Ken should also win its variants. the journalist of teams, Kyle Buchananrevealed that in addition to Ryan Gosling (“La La Land: Singing Seasons”) – first confirmed as love interest for Barbie -, Simu Liu (“Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings”) and Ncuti Gatwa (“Sex Education”) are also tipped to live the other versions of the doll.
As curious as this may sound, everything indicates that development will, in fact, go in a direction where the Barbie in Margot Robbie will go through a “identity crisis” realizing that it is not the only version of the doll that exists in the world.
In addition to the actors already mentioned, the cast of “Barbie” also has Michael Cera (“Juno”), Will Ferrell (“Eurovision”), Kate McKinnon (“Ghostbuster”), Alexandra Shipp (“Tick, Tick… Boom!”) and America Ferrera (“Superstore”). Emma Mackey, Connor Swindells (both from “Sex Education”), Emerald Fennell (“Beautiful Vengeance”), Kingsley Ben-Adir, Rhea Perlman, Sharon Rooney, Scott Evans, Ana Cruz Kayne, Ritu Arya and Jamie Demetriou will also be part of the project.
“Barbie” opens in theaters on July 21, 2023.
