“The Aleph” is back! So, with a paradoxical recollection of Argentina’s political tradition, Daniel Mecca presents his show “Borgean Monologues” which he will perform this Saturday, April 9 at 7:00 pm, for free and without charge, at La Silla Eléctrica Comedy Club (Avenida Santa Fe 2729, 1st floor, Patio del Liceo Gallery, CABA). The event was presented for the first time in 2021 at the historic Teatro Picadero in Buenos Aires.

“Borges is a writer that confuses your mind. But the solemnity built around his figure can alienate readers. ‘Borgean Monologues’ aims to explore these areas in this monologue class on Borges: thinking about Borges diagonally, desecrated him, in humorous and theatrical moments but, at the same time, theoreticallywith the idea of bringing the viewer closer to the work and life of the author of El Aleph ”, said Mecca, creator of the #BorgesPalooza festival and the #BorgesTour, a guided walk in Buenos Aires by Jorge Luis Borges.

Mecca — a 36-year-old poet, journalist and cultural manager — continues: “Borges’ narrative thinking today also does this from the dimension of social networks because it relates to virtual training of his work. What a tweeter Borges would have been!

In that sense, he anticipates that he will approachn Borges for all ages, whether they’re centennials, millennials or baby boomers: “If Borges has anything to do, it’s doubling time. There is no age to start reading it. The author and readers circulate their texts rudely, which is appropriate ”.

“Borges is pure disrespect and irony as we see in his story ‘Pierre Menard, author of Don Quixote’. If only to write invisible text! The idea, then, was to remove him from the luxurious light, from the ‘must as a reader’ and generate enjoyment in his literature. For Borges, all literature is a version of other literature. This Borgean monologue aims to produce its own version, its own literature ”, he highlights.
