Covid: 160.9 million Brazilians completed the vaccine, 74.9% of the population

Brazil stayed at home with 160.9 million people (3) who completed the covid-19 vaccine today. So far, 160,945,452 Brazilians have been vaccinated with a second dose or a single dose, corresponding to 74.92% of the country’s population. The survey was conducted by the press tools consortium. Between yesterday and today, 28,278 people in the country completed their vaccination cycle – of which 28,022 received the second dose and 256 received the single dose. In the same period, as of 20:00 yesterday, a total of 90,781 doses were given, 8,244 first and 54,259 boosters.

So far, 175,893,139 Brazilians have received their first dose, representing 81.88% of the national population; 78,175,498 people have already been vaccinated with a booster dose.

As for pediatric vaccines, 10,796,760 children aged 5 to 11 years received an initial dose equivalent to 52.67% of the population in this age group; 3,382,669 completed the vaccination program (16.5%).

In the last 24 hours, 19 states have updated their vaccination data.

The state of São Paulo continues to have the highest percentage of the fully vaccinated population: 84.49% of local residents. It is followed by Piauí (82%), Ceará (78.3%), Rio Grande do Sul (77.14%) and Minas Gerais (76.55%).

In percentage terms, Piauí continues to lead in terms of administering the first dose: 92.47% of its population. São Paulo (89.19%), Ceará (85.08%), Rio Grande do Sul (83.48%) and Paraná (83.35%) round out the top five.

Tools unite for knowledge

In response to the Jair Bolsonaro government’s decision to restrict access to data related to the covid-19 pandemic, media outlets UOLO Estado de S. Paulo, Folha de S.Paulo, O Globo, g1 and Extra formed a consortium to work collaboratively to obtain the necessary information directly from the state health departments of the Federation’s 27 units.

The federal government, through the Department of Health, should be the natural source of these numbers, but the attitudes of officials and the president during the pandemic have cast doubt on the availability and accuracy of the data.
