Two people were seriously injured around 10:30 p.m. on Monday evening when they left the road in Val-Alain, in Lotbinière.
There are fears for the lives of the two occupants of a car that violently hit a rock wall near a bridge located at the intersection of 3e Rang and rue Principale.
The car reportedly hit a guardrail before being lifted into the air then crossing the river and finally hitting the rock face on the other side of the stream. The vehicle then allegedly caught fire.
Witnesses reportedly saw the car traveling at very high speed in the moments before the accident.
Investigators from the Sûreté du Québec spent a good part of the night on the spot to try to shed light on the circumstances of this road trip.
No other vehicle was involved.
