The Modem boss is concerned about the current situation in France and abroad. He therefore asks the French to prepare to make exceptional efforts.

François Bayrou is in the same line as the Head of State. While Emmanuel Macron estimated this Wednesday that we were in a period of “end of abundance”, the mayor of Pau wants to be catastrophic.

“My deep feeling is that we are heading towards the most serious crisis that France has known since the war,” he said in an interview with the Spot.

He cites in particular the war in Ukraine, the food crisis, the energy issue, but also the unstable political situation in Italy and the United States. According to him, the country led by Joe Biden is in “a social crisis so serious that we do not see how they are going to get out of it, with the racial issue, a kind of civil war and endemic armed violence.”

An “original model of society” under construction?

To overcome these challenges that he considers very dangerous for the future of the country and of Europe, he asks for “a great national effort”, without specifying the measures he imagines in this regard. He also criticizes the lack of awareness on the part of the political class, denouncing the “shouts and insults that contaminate the debates in the National Assembly.”

According to François Bayrou, France must invent an “original model of society, with maximum freedom, maximum solidarity” while being “at the forefront” on vital issues. In this context, he assures that Emmanuel Macron is “determined” and “thinks” a lot.
