Arturo Salas Jr.a fellow pilot who was crossing mileage 131, found the Argentine on the ground with no vital signs and took it upon himself to quickly call for help.

The Baja 500 authorities have made that clear Zunino was found next to his KTM 450 motorcycle, model XC-F2023. And so far, everything seems to indicate that the cause of the accident occurred when a tire hit a stone that was on the road, causing the Argentine to lose control of the vehicle and crash. Although he carried the necessary and mandatory protective equipment with him, the head trauma was too severe to prevent him from dying.
