Last week UEFA made it official that SZymon Marciniak would have been the referee for the Champions League final on June 10 between Inter Milan and Manchester City. However, this could change dramatically. According to English and Italian newspapers, the Pole may not be in Istanbul. Why? Because the man who led the definition of the Qatar 2022 World Cup between Argentina and France He attended a far-right demonstration in Poland, where there were expressions against Jews and homosexuals.

The event was viewed by an anti-racist party called Never Again. Based on the complaint, the highest entity in European football has considered adopting punitive measures that could separate Marciniak from his next big job: officiating the Champions League final.

For now, UEFA has already released a statement in which it speaks of what happened with the Pole: “UEFA is aware of the allegations surrounding Szymon Marciniak and requests urgent clarifications. UEFA and the entire football community detest the ‘values’ promoted by the group in question and take the allegations very seriously. We will announce a decision this Friday after having examined all the evidence.”

According to the complaint of the anti-racist organization Marciniak was the spokesperson for a public beer tasting and networking event hosted by Confederation Party leader Mentzen, last May 29.

This party has a number of racist slogans: “Everyone against Jews, gays, abortion, taxes and the European Union”. In 2021, Mentzen became famous for launching a beer called White Indian Pale Ale Matters, a sardonic reference to the Black Lives Matters movement, which emerged to protest the police killings of black citizens in the United States.
