Very effective at home, the Hurricanes did not allow a goal to the Rangers in 116 min 5 s. Filip Chytil opened the scoring in the first game of the series, but since then it has been a drought for the NHL’s 5th attack this season.

The North Carolina team has improved their record in front of its fans to 6-0 since the playoffs began. He only allowed seven goals in those games.

Brendan Smith hit the target shorthanded and Sebastian Aho completed the scoring with an empty net for Rod Brind’Amour’s staff.

Hurricanes goaltender Antti Raanta was perfect in front of 21 shots to record the first playoff shutout.

The Hurricanes lead 2-0 in this series and will be looking for their first win on the road since the spring tournament began. They suffered three defeats at TD Garden in Boston in the first round.

The next duel will take place Sunday afternoon at Madison Square Garden.

Igor Shesterkin tried everything for the Rangers, but his attack didn’t help. The Russian stopped 20 of the 21 pucks focused on him.

The Rangers wasted four chances in power play and even gave up the first goal of the game in such situations.

Brady Skjei was in jail for four minutes due to a high stick on Alexis Lafrenière when the Hurricanes took advantage of a poor reading from Mika Zibanejad to go two-on-one.

Aho persevered and passed the puck between the legs of defenseman Adam Fox to join Smith, who evaded Shesterkin’s guard by redirecting the puck.
