Steve Kerrcoach of the Golden State Warriors and one of the most respected voices in the NBA, exploded Tuesday against the Republican Party of the United States for its refusal to control guns in his country after the shooting in which they were killed in Texas at least 18 minors and a teacher.

“I’m not going to talk about basketball today (…). No basketball question matters,” Kerr began in his press conference before the fourth West finals game played tonight in Dallas (Texas), between of the Mavericks and Warriors (0-3).

“Since we left training this morning, 14 children (the death toll rose to 18) and a teacher have been killed 400 miles from here (644 kilometers). Buffalo supermarkets, Asian churchgoers killed in Southern California, and now we have child killed at school, “he explained.

On the verge of tears and with acts of anger all the time, Kerr said he was “too tired” to deal with the media to “offer condolences to the bereaved families” after the U.S. shooting.

“I’m so tired. Excuse me, I’m sorry. I was tired of the minutes of silence. Enough, ”he said.

Cruel criticism of Republicans

Kerr then lashed out at Senate Republicans for being against it on a bill to tighten background checks on gun purchases.

This bill, known as HR8, was approved by the House of Representatives in 2021 but its process still remains in the Senate.

“There are 50 senators (Republicans) who refuse to vote on HR8 (…). There is a reason why they did not vote: to maintain his power“, he said.

“I’m asking you, Mitch McConnell (Republican Senate Leader), and all of you senators who refuse to do anything about violence, school shooting and supermarket shooting. I’m going to ask you: Will you prioritize your own desire for in power? of the lives of our children, seniors and patrons? Because that’s what it looks like, “he added.

Kerr urged everyone now to think of their own “son, grandson, mother, father, sister or brother.”

How would you feel if this happened to you today?

“50 senators in Washington are holding us hostage. Do you realize that 90% of Americans, regardless of their political party, want a universal background (to buy guns)?” aniya.

Kerr cited in this way polls such as the Morning Consult firm and the Politico portal, which in 2021 ensured that 84% of Americans (including 77% of Republicans) support that all arms procurement is requires background checks. .

“We’re being held hostage by 50 senators in Washington who refuse to put (the bill) up for a vote, despite what the Americans want. They won’t vote for it because they want to keep their own power. Nakakaawa naman! I’ve had enough “, he shouted again before leaving the press conference.
