Vicente Sabino Gatica, 51, He is the vice president of the La Arboleda club, competing in the soccer league of Tupungato, a vineyard municipality in the Uco Valley, 80 kilometers south of Mendoza city.

On Sunday, La Arboleda visited the field of Villa Bastías, the nearby town, to play a league match. At the end of the meeting, around 7:00 pm, the fight began between the fans, about 80 meters from the field.

There were blows, runs and rocks thrown into the air. One of those rocks hit Gatica’s head, which fell to the floor due to the brutal blow. The leader joins his children in the game. They were leaving the field when the confrontation between the bars began.

According to police information, the attack happened when the leader was trying to separate the fans face to face. He was left in the middle and struck by a rock.

Gatica lives in La Moneda, a small neighborhood at the entrance to Tupungato. His son Franco confirmed that his father wanted to separate the fans. But the most surprising thing he said was they believed the stone that hit him could have been from a fan of his own team.

“Maybe there were about six people who threw stones, where they fell. I don’t know if they were confusing my dad with the other team’s fan or intentionally,” said the slain leader’s son. And he clarified that there were two people identified by witnesses as aggressors.

Franco Gatica stressed his father He was a well -known and well -known man in the town. He called it “The Black”. He was a municipal employee, he cleaned gutters and was known in the neighborhood for his street work in contact with neighbors.

He is a very calm man. “

No arrests have been made on this death. The cause is being investigated by prosecutor Jorge Quiroga, from Tupungato, who is awaiting forensic results to determine the cause of the leader’s death and the statements of other witnesses.
