David Ibbotson, the pilot of the plane that crashed on 21 January 2019 in the English Channel, causing not only his death but also that of the Argentine footballer, who was moving to Wales to reach Cardiff City, did a chilling confession, moments before embarking on that journey.
This was reflected by BBC of London, means that he agreed to a phone conversation Ibbotson had with a friendin which he acknowledged that the small Piper PA-46 Malibu plane had turned up Technical Problems when he was on his way to France to look for the Santa Fe striker.
According to these audios, the pilot heard “a bang” during that flight and saw “a very low fog” inside the plane. He also said it heard “a pop” during the flight and complained that he could hear a “very low fog” inside the 35-year-old Piper Malibu plane.
“I’m in the middle of the (English) channel and ‘bang’,” Ibbotson admitted to Kevin Jones, according to information provided by that British medium.
The pilot then expanded his feelings: “I’m flying and then ‘boom’. I thought, ‘what’s up?’ So I went ahead and checked my parameters, everything was fine and it was still flying, but it caught my attention. “
“That Malibu, from time to time, has like a fog from time to time. You can hear it, very, very low all over the fuselage,” Ibbotson described in a conversation that, according to the BBC, was accidentally taped and turned reflected by a podcast of the same medium.
Also acknowledged that the plane should “return to the hangar” and that the left brake pedal also had problems.
In another chilling statement, Ibbotson said: “Normally I would have the life jacket between the seats, but I’ll use it tomorrow.”
The BBC He also posted a video in which Sala is seen with Ibbotson, before boarding the plane, carrying out the related preventive checks.
The fatal accident of Emiliano Sala
On 21 January 2019 Emiliano Sala, who has never played professionally in Argentina, traveled from France to Wales to reach Cardiff City, Premier League team to which he had been transferred from Nantes for a record sum for the Welsh club: 17 million euros.
But the small plane that was carrying him fell into the waters of the English Channel and the one born in Cululú, Santa Fe, he lost his life at the age of 28, at the best moment of his career professional.
His body was found 17 days later, unlike Ibbotson’s, which was never found. He was 67 meters deep when he was rescued by the AAIB, the British agency that investigates plane crashes.
According to the forensic report, his death was caused by “head and body injuries”, product of the plane’s impact with the turbulent waters of the English Channel. British justice ruled that, before he died, Sala was “deeply unconscious” after suffering poisoning by inhalation of toxic gases.
During the flight, the man from Santa Fe sent a voice message in which he recounted his fear of the situation at high altitude: “Brother, I’m dead. I’m here, on top of the plane, which appears to be about to collapse and I’m going to Cardiff, crazy, because tomorrow afternoon we will start training with the new team, let’s see what happens ”.
“If they don’t hear from me in an hour and a half, I don’t know if they’ll send someone to find me, because they won’t find me, but you know … Dad, I’m so scared,” Sala accepted. Hours later, it was learned that the pilot had requested an emergency landing in Guernsey, an area where he disappears from radar.
According to the British Air Accident Investigation Office (AAIB), the driver lost control of the plane “after performing a high-speed maneuver to cope with bad weather”. Furthermore, the aircraft was not licensed to operate commercially.
The flight organizer, David Henderson, had decided not to make that trip because he “didn’t feel up to it for personal reasons,” so he hired Ibbotson, who was neither licensed to fly a commercial aircraft nor competent to fly under conditions. airworthiness … bad weather or night, Henderson knew.
In the end, Henderson was found guilty of his negligence, assuming he had a “financial interest”. He was sentenced to 18 months in prison by a British court in November 2021.
