A programming school came to Argentina that only pays when you get a job in dollars

Programming is recognized as one of the most labor-intensive future professions in the world and could break the gap in Latin America. A new school suggests do not charge students for their training. It’s not free: students pay tuition when they get a job in dollars.

It’s Microverse, an international school founded by Ariel Camus from Mendoza and created in Silicon Valley, making its official landing in the region to help correct the gap and connect Latino talent to the best opportunities.

The Microverse educational system is based on an innovative financing model called Income Share Agreement (ISA)which is the axis of its success and the main vehicle of its trust, as the company does not charge if its students fail to enter the international market, earning a good salary in dollars.

Students are paid nothing in advance. Only when they get a job in that technology exceed a thousand dollars per month.

Work meetings are far away.

At that time, they start paying 15% of their salary as tuition until they are covered the total amount of 15 thousand dollars How much does your training cost? If they stop working in technology or have a salary of less than a thousand dollars, payments are suspended.

“Microverse graduates will only pay for their training as they take direct benefit from their process with us. Our students are free to decide about their career and that is taken into account in the repayment scheme.” , Camus added.

This type of learning is based on a training program where students learn through joint work with people from other countries, in a professional environment that resembles a technology company.

In Microverse there is no class or teacher. This is learned through peer project developmentsimulating real-world remote work dynamics.

Each week is a new project with a new group of 3-4 people from different countries. The program is focused on development collaborative training experiences to develop the skills needed to access those jobs.

It is an immersive experience that requires full-time dedication, but it provides a wide range of technical and professional resources.

“For 7 months a student is part of 30 teams with more than 100 people from different countries, going through all kinds of challenges, both technical and interpersonal, and is trained in the latest technology and professional skills in the industry”.

Upon completion of the 7-month technical program, students will connect with a mentor who assists them in their job search process.

According to the signature, 60% of students get a job before completing the first month of job search. 85% have achieved this in less than 3 months.

Camus created the program focused on a specific goal: train global developers of a unique level of professionalism, prepared for distant international employment in a highly competitive sector.

Latin American countries (and Argentina in particular) are very well positioned to take advantage of this change, as they share a time zone with the United States (a major difference in respect to other developing regions), with good infrastructure and a cultural connection to the Western way of working.
