A Peruvian man celebrating the birth of his son in Genoa, Italy, has died after being shot with arrows by his neighbor. The cause of the crime could have been the noise caused by the victim. The case took place on Wednesday (2).

Javier Romero Miranda, 41, went out with friends on Tuesday (1) to celebrate the birth of his son, as well as watch the Champions League match between Liverpool and Napoli. Confusion ensued on their way home and they were caught by 63-year-old Evaristo Scalco.

Eyewitnesses claim that the old man made racial insults to the victim. In a statement to police, Evaristo said he had watched the group through the window and noticed people urinating. “I shouted at them but they ignored me. I took the bow and fired, but I didn’t want to kill anyone.”

Although he claimed he had no intention of killing Javier, the old man shot the victim in the torso with a steel-tipped arrow, often used to kill a boar. After the old man’s arrest, police found about 60 arrows and three bows in Evaristo’s home.

Construction worker Javier was hospitalized with a punctured liver, but died during surgery hours later. He lived in Italy for about 20 years.

A video with delicate footage shows the moment Javier, crying and holding the arrow, speaks on the phone. “What have you done to me? God,” the victim says. Noticing the confusion, another neighbor goes out into the street and says, “What happened?” he asks. “He shot me with an arrow,” Javier replies.

Evaristo has been arrested and will be charged with murder.
