Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Serghei Ryabkov said in an interview with state agency Tass this Thursday (17) Thursday that delegations from Russia and the United States will meet in Cairo from November 29 to December 6 to discuss the implementation of the New Start nuclear deal.
The agreement was signed in 2010 and is the only major agreement of its kind still in effect between the two countries. Key points include limiting the amount of nuclear weapons each nation has.
In August this year, Russia announced that it was suspending technical inspections of the US factories due to the sanctions imposed on the country due to the war in Ukraine and the US invasion of the neighboring country.
The deal was last renewed under the Joe Biden government in January 2021 and is valid until 2026.
