Man who killed Brazilian woman in Argentina sentenced to life in prison

The victim, identified as Luana Cristina Carneiro de Melo, was 25 years old and was found suffocated in her bed in an apartment she rented in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 2018.

The crime was resolved when the suspect admitted to breaking into the property to steal Luana’s mobile phone, according to information from the Argentine news agency Télam. He said he killed the young woman so she wouldn’t surrender.

Bolivian national Iver Uruchi Condori was convicted of murder. Sources close to the incident told Telam that he was competing with the crime of theft.

Three judges of the High Criminal Court determined the sentence of life imprisonment. With the decision, Condori will continue to be detained in Marcos Paz, Federal Penitentiary Complex II, under the Federal Penitentiary Service.

Born in Jataí (GO), 320 km from Goiânia, Luana moved to Argentina at the age of 22 after meeting a friend online.
