A man in his 20s who was leading a drug trade in Bangkok, Thailand, underwent plastic surgery and changed his name to a Korean style, continuously evading police investigations, but was eventually arrested.
According to Thai media outlets The Tiger and The Straight Times on the 26th (local time), in December of last year, Bangkok police in Thailand arrested 25-year-old Jung Ji-min in a condominium in Bangkok’s Bangna district.
When the local police came, he said he was Korean and gave his Korean name. The appearance was also very different from the existing montages. The police were perplexed. However, it was soon confirmed that he was Sarahat Sawangjaeng, 25, who was called a drug lord in Thailand.
Sawangjaeng is accused of ordering MDMA (a type of ecstasy/antipsychotic drug) from Europe to Thailand using the Internet ‘Dark Web’ and selling it in Bangkok.
In November of last year, Thai customs found 2575 grams of methylenedioxy mesamphetamine and 290 ecstasy pills ordered from Europe. Local prosecutors collected evidence and obtained an arrest warrant, but were unable to locate the suspect. Accordingly, the prosecution approached Sarahat through a sting operation and found his residence.
Investigations revealed that he underwent plastic surgery over the years and changed his name to a Korean name in order to avoid being pursued by law enforcement agencies. The Four Kings had a history of being arrested three times for the same criminal record, but had a completely different appearance from when he was arrested in the past.
The police who were mobilized to arrest him at the time said, “There was no original face left,” and “It was shocking to see that he had transformed into a handsome Korean man.”
Sammasuti Police Chief emphasized that the four kings were the hosts who spread drugs in Bangkok. “(He) is now only 25 years old and is a drug lord importing MDMA from Europe,” he said. “We believe there are more suspects abroad and will continue the investigation.”
