In the southeastern part of Turkey (Turkey), where a 7.8-magnitude earthquake struck last month, torrential rains caused flooding and caused great damage. Videos of rescuers of mothers and children swept away by torrents were released one after another on social media.

At least 10 people have been killed, five others are missing and thousands are displaced after torrential rains have been pouring down from the 14th (local time) in two southeastern provinces of Turkiye, which were hit by a massive earthquake, local officials said on the 15th.

Rescue workers in Sanliurfa province also found the bodies of five Syrian nationals in the basement of a flooded apartment building. TVs in Sanliurpa showed images of cars being washed away by floodwaters and a man being rescued from an underpass.

In a video released on social media, there is a dramatic scene in which two men run to rescue a mother and child who were washed away by the rapids.

In another video, vehicles parked in an alley were swept away by the rapids, and a person who lost his balance and sat down was washed away with muddy water.

Many of the dead lost their homes due to the earthquake and fell victim to temporary tents and containers.

The local meteorological office predicted that the heavy rain that started on the 14th would continue until the afternoon of the 15th.

The Turkiye Disaster Management Agency said dozens of professional divers were conducting rescue operations in the two flood-stricken provinces.

A magnitude 7.8 earthquake on February 6 killed 52,000 people and destroyed or severely damaged more than 200,000 buildings in southern Turkey and northern Syria.
