For many men and women – and not only -, already grown up, the time they attended high school it was one of the best of their life. And they would like to relive it, even knowing that it is impossible. Or not?
In America, a woman nostalgic for her high school years found a way to relive that unique experience. Though, of course, at his current 29 years, he could only do it one way: by cheating.
Thus, the woman, who is Korean and her name is Hyejeong Shin, she forged her birth certificate pretend to be a 16-year-old girl and enroll in a New Jersey high school.
However, only a few days the woman was able to “enjoy” his ruse because she was discovered by the New Brunswick High School authorities, who also reported her to the police.
And naturally, his case made the newsand exploited the issue on social networks, where some supported it while others fiercely criticized it.
According to local media, Shin he was denounced by other studentswho noticed that the woman was behaving strangely.
After being captured, the young Korean woman said she never intended to harm anyone I just wanted to relive the experience which made her feel happier growing up.
“At no time was anyone or any student in danger and the whole case pertains anymore my client wants to return to a safe and welcoming place and to an environment he remembers fondly and nothing else,” said Darren Gelber, Shin’s attorney.
Shin eventually pleaded guilty to a number of charges that could carry a maximum penalty of five years’ imprisonmentbut his lawyer’s strategy is to try to convince the court that his client was alone and confused.
Shin, his lawyer added, came from “a difficult divorce and her whole family was in South Korea”, so she had no one around to support her.
“Shin went back to his high school days and the vibe he missed so much, so she decided to pretend to go back to schoolGelberg stated.
The lawyer admitted that the whole situation is very strange and can be very difficult for people to understand, but added that while there are personal issues that Hyejeong Shin has to deal with, he never meant to hurt anyone.
Shin’s youthful looks apparently fooled both the high school staff and the vast majority of other teenage students, like himself no one suspected that she was more than a decade older than her peers, but it was the process of verifying documents and her “strange” attitude towards other students she had interacted with that gave her away.
