Heard responded, claiming that Depp physically assaulted her on multiple occasions before and during their wedding.
One of the main points of controversy in the trial was a battle from March 2015 which the couple said they had a few weeks after they got married, when Heard visited Depp on the set of the fifth installment of the film franchise “Pirates of the Caribbean” in Australia.

In testimony last week, Depp said Heard cut off the top of his right middle finger. when it threw him a bottle of vodka of glass. It was allegedly heard in court papers that Depp himself cut off his finger“Dropped the hard plastic phone against the wall”.
One of the ways Heard’s legal team tried to prove their side of the story in the trial was by showing a text message that Depp sent to his personal physician David Kipper after the incident, which read: “ I cut off my left finger to remind myself not to lose my right again.

Depp was asked about his legal team’s text message in the redirection portion of his testimony on Monday. Depp said the text message was not an admission to cutting off his finger, but a joke.
“When you say‘ I cut my finger, ’it doesn’t mean you did it yourself,” Depp said. He even said that cutting his finger is unthinkable as a guitarist. The guitar, he said, is “the only really good thing in my life, apart from my kids.”
“There’s no way I’m going to cut my finger to ruin this great opportunity to start playing guitar,” he added. Apparently what Depp is referring to is his band, The Hollywood Vampires, which was formed in 2012 and began performing live in September 2015.

Much of Depp’s early testimony also focused on how he moved to Los Angeles as a young man to pursue music, but eventually began acting when his band disbanded. In his youth, he declared, music and guitar his way to escape from childhood full of abuse from his mother.

Depp first stood on Tuesday, April 19, and then continued to testify daily until the end of Thursday, April 21. The proceedings were delayed on Friday, April 22, then over the weekend, and resumed in April. 25.
