Israel: Hits more than 400 targets

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced that it had struck more than 400 targets in the Gaza Strip on the morning of the 2nd, the second day after the end of the ceasefire with the Palestinian armed faction Hamas. Hamas said the death toll reached 240.

The IDF explained that it carried out extensive airstrikes in the southern region, including 50 targets in the Khan Yunis region.

Ground forces carried out air strikes on several targets in the northern Gaza Strip, including a mosque used as an operational headquarters by another Palestinian militant group, Islamic Jihad (PIJ).

The navy carried out airstrikes on southern Hamas infrastructure, including maritime equipment used by Hamas.

The IDF announced that a number of terrorist organizations had been eliminated. It was revealed that there was also an ammunition depot at the target.

According to the Associated Press, the airstrikes that took place on the 2nd after the resumption of fighting were concentrated in the Khan Yunis area. The day before, the IDF distributed leaflets warning residents to evacuate.

Hamas announced in a statement that day that 240 people were killed in Palestine alone after the resumption of fighting.

It also said 650 people were injured in “hundreds of airstrikes, artillery shelling, and naval bombardments” across the Gaza Strip.

According to the Syrian state-run SANA news agency, Israel carried out air strikes on areas near Damascus, the Syrian capital, on this day.

In response, Syrian air defenses intercepted Israeli missiles and shot down several projectiles. Property damage due to this airstrike was also reported.
