Ukrainian journalists are among the winners of the special edition of the Pulitzer Prize, the most important prize in world journalism, for “courage” in reporting the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

“Despite the bombings and occupation, they insisted on presenting an accurate picture of a terrible reality,” said Marjorie Miller, Pulitzer Prize chairman of the board.

Miller noted the “courage, resistance and commitment to accurate information” of Ukrainian journalists during the conflict and in the face of the “propaganda war” launched by the Russians.

According to the UN, Vladimir Putin’s government launched a military offensive in Ukraine on February 24 that killed more than 3,000 civilians and caused more than 5.5 million to flee.
