Foreign ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on Thursday that Russia will deport Western newspapers and journalists if its diplomatic spokesmen block weekly press conferences, as the YouTube platform does.
Both YouTube and other social media and web pages announced that they blocked Russian outlets and official pages after the Ukraine attack, either because of sanctions or simply to spread disinformation. Moscow criticizes these decisions as “anti-Russian”.
Maria Zakharova explained that she told the US video platform that if she blocked her weekly live press conferences, “an American journalist or media outlet would go home,” according to TASS.
“We will give one more information blockade and a concrete name, a concrete means of communication,” threatened Zakharova, before adding that this could include vehicles from other countries, because YouTube is run by “a lady with a Polish passport.” to Susan Wojcicki in charge of the platform.
“Because of Poland’s location [em relação à Rússia]We cannot limit [as represálias] to the Americans,” he added.
Zakharova’s press conferences are not always blocked by YouTube, but some of them have been broadcast.
