A plane carrying 22 people was reported missing in a mountainous area in Nepal, airline Tara Air announced on Sunday.
Lost contact on a domestic flight bound for Jomsom from Pokharasaid toAFP Sudarshan Bartaula, spokesman for the Kathmandu -based company.
The twin machine Twin Otter flew from the city of Pokhara (central western Nepal) at 9:55 am local time before losing contact with the radio.
Three crew and 19 passengers were on board the plane, he said.
Phanindra Mani Pokharel, a spokesman for the Interior Ministry, said two helicopters were sent for search operations. But visibility is poor, he added.
Bad weather can slow down search operations. Visibility is so low, you can’t see anythinghe said.
Jomsom, known as the starting point for trekkers in the Himalayas, is a 20 -minute flight from Pokhara, the country’s second largest city, 200 km west of the capital Kathmandu.
